Uptown Dallas is an area filled with restaurants up and down McKinney Ave. On today's adventurous journey the LYD crew visited Breadwinners. This restaurant gets mega points on atmosphere. There was jazz music playing softly, mood lighting for the evening, and an old-fashioned feel in the decorations. After speaking with the hostess, the original business of the Breadwinners building was a pharmacy.

LYD suggests: Masala Dosa for an appetizer. It's a paper-thin crepe stuffed with potato, onion, and cashew nuts. This is served with sambar and coconut chutney, two amazing dipping sauces that really bring out the bold flavors of the dish. Also, try the sweet and crispy Fried bananas. They appear to have been dipped in sugar and fried, totally delicious.

LYD Recommendation: Ask the staff for guidance if you're weary of embracing Turkish food and learning a new culture! You really can't go wrong with any of their kebab plates or gyro dishes. Order a sandwich pita plate with a yummy yogurt dipping sauce. Finish it off with original desserts, puddings, and buttery and perfectly flaky baklava.

The building, which is more like a dive, is bright yellow and located in the heart of Lemmon Avenue. The LYD crew walked in for lunch, not knowing what to expect and we were greeted by six smiling faces behind the counter that were more than eager to assist in our first dining experience. They walked us through the menu and their ingredient choices and even made a few recommendations as we stared at the plethora of options the menu board presented. The menu was filled with everything from farm-fresh ingredients to Meditteranean Hummus and everything in between, like your hearty meat-filled sub. Once we had made our tasty selections, the generous crew provided LYD with fresh fruit bowls for being first-time customers.
LYD suggests: Really talk to the staff here. They have so many options, you really can't go wrong. Get away from your regular white or wheat bread here and try one of their other delectable breads.
